ISLAMABAD, Dec 01 (APP):Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Monday said that Parliament is the house of the people and its dignity will be protected at all costs.
Responding to the speech of Member National Assembly Barrister Gohar Ali Khan during the session, he said that all members of Parliament are fully aware that his doors have always remained open.
Ayaz Sadiq stressed that if anyone claims they will bring people to attack Parliament, they may attempt so but such tone and language will never be acceptable.
He said that all his efforts for reconciliation and dialogue are before everyone and are neither hidden nor ambiguous.
The Speaker said that the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Minister for Law and he himself have repeatedly made it clear that issues can only be resolved through dialogue, not confrontation. “Speak to me with respect and goodwill; I have no objection. I am fulfilling my constitutional and parliamentary responsibilities,” he added.
He said, on that day he had extended an offer of dialogue to the opposition leader, but the response he received was: “Talk to India, talk to Afghanistan — but I will not talk to you.” Despite this, the Speaker noted, “I gave you the microphone, and you yourself said that you wished to talk. I invited you to my chamber — was my role negative in any way? I even seated the government before you to ensure the continuity of dialogue.”
The Speaker emphasized that Parliament is the home of political dialogue, where all differences must be resolved within the framework of the Constitution and the law.
